Something to Think About

The greatest of man's spiritual needs is the need to be delivered from the evil and falsity that are in himself and in his society.

At the gates of the forest, the surprised man of the world is forced to leave his city estimates of great and small, wise and foolish. Here is a sanctity which shames our religions, and reality which discredits our heroes.

The Art of Zen Meditation

“The easiest method
to experience peace
is to simply allow yourself
to feel what you are feeling
in this moment
as sensation.

Not to define the sensations
describe them
nor judge them,
but to feel them as sensation
without words.

If you rest in this awareness,
then you are not in your mind,
you are not involved with thoughts at all.

You are experiencing yourself
beyond thought.

If you notice,
you will see that
at a subtle level,
you are constantly resisting
feeling this moment.

There is a pain
or discomfort
or something too vulnerable
about experiencing this moment.

This avoidance of now
is stress
and it manifests itself
as desire, fear,
or the habit
to be lost in your thinking.

The more you can simply
allow yourself to feel
the sensations
in this moment,
the more you transcend
mind and individual separation,

moving into stillness
where there is a free flow of energy.

This is as far as you can go,
it is the energy that does the rest.

Blessings,

Kip”

Discover How You Can
Awaken Yourself To Your Natural State
Of Love, Peace and Bliss

These are the only meditation CDs
that can transmit to you the enlightened presence
necessary to awaken you to your natural state of peace.

“How does one really define a euphoric, rapturous,
high in the heavenly realm, peaceful, blissful plane in one word!

I went through many phases of emotions
from crying to bliss to peace beyond description.
The world needs to know about your work!”

“Ocean Euphoric makes meditation easy.”

“The ocean euphoric CD came today! I have one word to tell you: AMAZING!! I have done various chakra work, and meditation,  but nothing compares to the feelings of total bliss, and ecstasy that I have felt from listening to this disc!! Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart”

(Michael Penner, Scotland)

“Ocean Euphoric increases the depth and bliss
of my meditation more than anything I’ve ever used.
It’s like sitting in the presence of an enlightened being.”

(Will Cunningham, NY, USA))

“After one year of using Ocean Euphoric 3 to 4 times weekly, I am still being overwhelmed by the blissful states of meditation I go into.

Normally after some usage, most meditation CDs lose their effect.  But with Ocean Euphoric, the more I use it the deeper levels I touch.  In fact, I would say that Ocean Euphoric meditates the user, not the user meditating to it”

10,000 Hours to Mastery

Experts who study creativity find that to get really, really, really good at something takes about 10,000 hours. That breaks down to about 40 hours a week for five years of constant practice. Or 20 hours a week for ten years.

Any well-known sports star, musician or other talented individual has done this: Tiger Woods, Tony Robbins, Dale Carnegie, Shakespeare, Nicola Tesla or any other name you can think of. Mozart put his 10,000 hours in before he was eight-years-old.

The point is, to excel in anything takes time, dedication and commitment. To become an expert at anything doesn’t happen overnight.

Perhaps you know someone who tried to learn to play an instrument, intending to become world famous? They took lessons, came back home and practiced a little bit and continued that cycle for a few weeks or months. Perhaps they even kept it up for a few years. But they were never really good, were they? It’s because they didn’t commit to the 10,000 hours.

The reason I mention this is because you’re currently in the process of training your mind. And to really excel at creative thinking and breaking out of the mold will require time, dedication and commitment.

The good news is that the mind can be trained to fast-track the learning process, by building on the lessons learnt and experience gained by others who have been before. That’s the purpose of this website: to gather together tools that have proved useful in the past.

The process of finding worthwhile tools can be frustrating - there’s a huge amount of worthless info out there. I’ve had to spend way more than 10,000 hours sifting through useless books, websites and other tools to prepare a collection of meaningful tools.

Have I missed something?
Do you know of something truly worthwhile which hasn’t been mentioned?
Please let me know by posting a comment.

The Ring of Truth

All correct philosophies have a certain ‘ring of truth’ to them. Without the ring of truth, the philosophy is either flawed in some way, or the recipient is not yet prepared to be exposed to that philosophy.

My question is, how does one know which applies?

Should a new idea which doesn’t have the ring of truth be immediately discarded because it is flawed, or should a new idea which doesn’t gel be placed in a mental parking space to be addressed later?

Where Shall Wisdom be Found?

Westerners are startlingly uninformed about the state of the world. Western television news rarely reports on international events of any depth, choosing instead to go for the latest “hot topic”. Spiritual places of worship are not providing any wisdom. Schools and institutions of learning are the last places to find wisdom.

It’s no wonder then that more and more seekers are asking, “Where shall Wisdom be found”?

Harold Bloom has written a book entitled Where Shall Wisdom be Found. Unfortunately I cannot recommend it. It is simply a list of “wisdom literature”. His list begins with Plato and gets no closer to our own day than Proust and Joyce. It’s heavy going, and while I cannot deny the heavyweight of his collection, it may not be to everyone’s taste.

So, dear friends, Where shall wisdom be found? This site presents my own list of slightly more modern and easily digested words of wisdom. Browse and enjoy.

This is a where shall wisdom be found stub. You can help by expanding it, or browse away using the Category links to the right.

How to Use This Site

There are going to be pretty profound statements made here, many of which are going to sound blasphemous, heretical and downright ludicrous. I know, because when I first stumbled across them those were my first reactions.

But if you have an open mind, limitless curiosity and a sincere desire to journey further along the Path to Mastery, everything will come together. Try not to reject everything that feels a little uncomfortable. It’s only when discomfort starts that growth can begin.

Where to Start

If you’re relatively new to challenging the norm, I’d suggest reading this blog in chronological order. That means starting with the first post: How to Find the Purpose of Life.

At the end of each post, click the link that says Next Post. That way you’ll read through everything in the sequence they were written. Alternatively, use the Archives links on the right. By doing so you’ll quickly cover the key discoveries I found, starting from July 2004. You’ll also get an understanding of the unfolding mystery of life, as I experienced it.

You can also find a chronological listing of all the articles on this site by going to History.

Or, if you’re comfortable with most of the concepts discussed, dive into the Topic or Category that interests you the most. The current Category listing can be found in the right hand column.

Interaction

Please do interact on the site – it’s the only way I’ll know whether the site is useful or not. You can do this in two ways:

  • Posting your thoughts and comments. At the end of each post is space for you to share your thoughts.
  • Asking a question or suggesting a topic for discussion. Use the link called Ask a Question at the top of each page.

What Words Mean

Words are extremely limiting. So I sometimes form new combinations of words, as well as using standard words in new ways (for example capitalising them when normally they would not be) in order to express new ways of looking at life. And for that reason, I’ve created this Glossary in order to clarify my sometimes uncommon usage of some common words.

You will notice that words in certain posts are underlined differently to other hyperlinks. If you hover your mouse over these words, you’ll see an explanation appear of how I use that particular phrase.Enjoy!

My Myers-Briggs Personality Type

It’s been interesting to see how my Myers-Briggs Personality Type has changed over the years, from a rule-following ESTJ during my corporate career, to my current type of INFP, which means I am a:

  • slightly expressed introvert
  • moderately expressed intuitive personality
  • slightly expressed feeling personality
  • slightly expressed perceiving personality

INFP = Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Perceiving

Further Explanation

The Portrait of the Healer Idealist - Extract: Healer Idealists are abstract in thought and speech, cooperative in striving for their ends, and investigative and attentive in their interpersonal relations. Healer present a seemingly tranquil, and noticiably pleasant face to the world, and though to all appearances they might seem reserved, and even shy, on the inside they are anything but reserved, having a capacity for caring not always found in other types. They care deeply-indeed, passionately-about a few special persons or a favorite cause, and their fervent aim is to bring peace and integrity to their loved ones and the world.

Healers have a profound sense of idealism derived from a strong personal morality, and they conceive of the world as an ethical, honorable place. Indeed, to understand Healers, we must understand their idealism as almost boundless and selfless, inspiring them to make extraordinary sacrifices for someone or something they believe in. The Healer is the Prince or Princess of fairytale, the King’s Champion or Defender of the Faith, like Sir Galahad or Joan of Arc. Healers are found in only 1 percent of the general population, although, at times, their idealism leaves them feeling even more isolated from the rest of humanity.

INFP Profile - Extract: INFPs never seem to lose their sense of wonder. One might say they see life through rose-colored glasses. It’s as though they live at the edge of a looking-glass world where mundane objects come to life, where flora and fauna take on near-human qualities.

What personality type are you?

Please Help!

This blog takes feeds from a number of different sources.  Most have been carefully vetted. Sometimes nonsense filters through.  Because of the volume of information here, I can’t always keep track of  what’s good and what’s bad.

Please help me and future visitors by reporting any posts that add no value.  I’ll immediately review them and delete the post, or even the source entirely, if it doesn’t contribute to our journey towards Mastery.  And if there’s something you think should be added to this site (your favourite daily read, for example), please let me know.  My aim is to make this site the premier resource for those wanting to expand their minds, not become engrossed in the dross so plentiful out there.

Please be as specific as possible.  Including the URL (web address) of the offending entry is an absolute prerequisite, otherwise I have no idea what you’re referring to!

Remember to answer the Challenge Question - it’s the only way I can stop automated form submissions (also known as spam). In addition, correctly choosing the category of your question usually results in a quicker response.

Please note that because of the high volume of emails I receive, I do not always reply to individual emails, particularly if the answer can be found somewhere on this site.

The Voice of Wisdom

What is the still small voice, the Voice of Wisdom, your Inner Wisdom?

Your Voice of Wisdom communicates in myriad ways. It may take the form of a subtle inner prompting, a feeling that you should or shouldn’t do something.

Our inner Voice of Wisdom is the part of us which lies just beneath our logical, rational, conscious mind. It is sometimes referred to as Inner Knowing, as the Higher Self, as Spiritual Self or even as Self.

The reality is, since everything is connected to everything else, this is in fact the Universe communicating important messages to us. So when your Voice of Wisdom speaks, perhaps it’s time to listen to the important message.
